Samui Pride

Welcome to the new Samui Pride web site. Samui Pride was set up in September 2011. Our aims are:-

  1. to make a bigger better gay community
  2. to bring together tourists, Thai people and expats
  3. to promote and foster gay tourism to the island
  4. to enhance the status of the gay community on the island
  5. to raise funds for local charitable causes by organising regular events

Samui Pride is run entirely by volunteers. It is reliant upon the support and goodwill of the many businesses on the island connected with gay tourism as well as the community generally.

Building Pride on Samui - Helping Our Community

Stage One – Building Pride.

Two years ago the gay businesses of Samui got together and collaborated on a web site that would provide a one-stop shop for gay visitors.  A simple no-frills view of Samui island and what it had to offer the gay visitor.  Go to www.gay-samui.com to see the result

Then last year – keeping up with the times -  we added the Facebook Page we called Pride of Samui.  The interactive social networking style of Facebook allows visitors and locals to share photos and information relevant to our community.

Now we have gone one step further by forming the Samui Pride Organising Committee.  This group is made up of representatives of gay business but crucially also has the enthusiasm and expertise of many gay people living on Samui – some retired and some working across a whole range of other businesses.

Stage Two – Helping Our Community.

It would be too easy to think only of ourselves. Have some parties, make new friends, and enjoy life but the founding principle of Samui Pride is to give back to the local community.  Therefore after much research a school for Special Needs Children was chosen to be “adopted” by us and we hope to offer as much financial and practical support as we can over the coming years.
