Songkran Water Festival

Thailand's famous water festival has come a long way from the days of gentle sprinkling of water on the forehead of ones revered elder relatives.

This annual event is aimed at bringing the community together in a fun and festive way at a time of the year when all of Thailand is out somewhere playing with water.   We hire a truck that holds 20-30 people and drive around Samui. Along the way visitors and locals are throwing water on passers by but they get a truck load of water on them when we come by!

Samui Pride organises this event every year as a part of its objectives to create a bigger better gay community on Koh Samui.  Most of the resources needed for this event are donated by gay businesses or individuals on the island.

When the water has gone its time for food and drink.  In 2012 Tropical Fah Samui was kind enough to host a free BBQ for everyone. In 2011 it was the turn of Mekkala Mens Spa to be kind hosts to a bunch of wet, wild and slightly drunk people!
